Toward the end of 2013, the Unitarian Univeralist 6th and 7th graders visited the Albany Roman Catholic Cathedral. It was awesome. I had been by it numerous occassions and rarely noticed that it was quite impressive from the outside (don't we get busy and oblivious to such things). It is more impressive from the inside. The exterior is pink sandstone but the interior is plaster painted to look like sandstone. There was lots of room but for this regular Sunday morning communion there weren't that many people (and the acoustics were pretty awful with echoes making it hard to understand the speaker). We had a chance to visit with the senior priest at the cathedral. | =0= |

We also toured the area behing the altar and then the 'catecombs' where previous bishops are buried. They are lowered through a trap door in the ceiling | =0= |

They have some way cool statues along the sides of the cathedral. At CommerceHub all vacation for the last year needed to be used my the end of March or it would be lost. I had a couple of days which I needed to use, so I helped out at Habitat in Humanity. They have a new site in Troy which I visited in January. Here is Mandee who gives the orientation for volunteers. The Albany Habitat for Humanity which was pretty active with several paid staff has merged with the Troy Habitat for Humanity which was all volunteers, but not very active / building many houses. Now Albany Habitat for Humanity was revised its goals to build several houses each year through larger developments of townhouses as shown below. | =0= |

They also have changed a few things in their standard builds. No carpet in the living room or the stairs for example. It was pretty cold that day and we were working in the enclosed house shown here doing interior work such as firring strips on the ceilings and insulation but it was still pretty cold. | =0= |
